Opera Mini v4.2 Beta Released
Opera Software has released a new beta version of its Opera Mini mobile web browser. Opera Mini v4.2 beta brings a number of new enhancements including faster speeds and the return of a collection of browser skins.
Opera has added a new "server park" for users in the US, which should significantly boost speeds for users in the United States and Asia-Pacific regions. v4.2b also brings back a selection of user selectable skins, improved support for YouTube and other mobile video services on a wider selection of mobile phones. Improvements in the company's Opera Link allow users to sync notes between their mobile phones and PCs, in addition to their bookmarks and recently-visited URLs.
The number of people using Opera Mini worldwide proves that there is a true revolution going on: people want to access all their favorite Web sites on the mobile phone they have today," says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera. "We constantly focus on developing a faster and more personal browsing experience. Opera Mini 4.2 beta is an update that takes mobile Web browsing to the next level."
Users can download the latest version by visiting mini.opera.com/beta on your phone. In order to use Opera Mini with a Palm OS device you need to have the Palm Java Micro Environment installed. Since Palm no longer distributes the JVM you need to already have it installed or find an alternate source (download link) for it online.
