Comments on: Palm Pre Coming to Canada's Bell Mobility

Palm PrePalm Inc. today officially announced that Palm Pre will debut in Canada exclusively on Bell Mobility's 3G high-speed mobile network in the second half of 2009.

"Bell is excited to be only the second carrier in the world to announce the 3G Pre," said Adel Bazerghi, senior vice president of Products for Bell Mobility. "With the unique user experience of the world's first webOS phone, running on the country's largest 3G network, we're confident that Canadians will embrace Pre as the phone for their lives today."

Pre on Bell Mobility

Brent @ 5/7/2009 6:03:24 AM # Q
As a current Bell Mobility customer nearing the end of my contract with my Treo 700p, I was actually hoping the Pre might come out from its competitor, Rogers Wireless. Bell had better plan on revamping its wireless plans, or the Pre on Bell is going to be pretty much useless, or at least far too expensive to use. Currently I have to pay an additional $40 on top of the voice plan for Bell's Data plan. This only gives me 8 meg, however, with overages being very expensive. Contrast this with Rogers' iphone data plan where you get a more reasonable 1 GB for $30, or 3GB for $60, and a flex-rate plan as well. Since the Pre is going to be very web-centric in use, with its webOS, that means lots of data being transmitted back and forth to be useful, so Bell will have to come up with better plans for this device to be worthwile.

I was going to say almost exactly the same thing.

I just renewed my contract with Bell, and I can go in and get a new phone anytime now, the thing was that I was hoping to hear about the Pre coming to Canada in the hopes that Bell would get it.

But, before I change my plan to add data, they better have one hell of a deal for it, I'm kinda getting sick to hear about the unlimited data plans (or very low monthly fees) from just about every other country but here in Canada.

I still might get it if I can use the WIFI access, and if I can have my old Palm applications to work on it.
