With the 2005 game, the controls were only by buttons, which made it somewhat difficult to really do anything (I had a T|C, now a T5). Still, even though there are huge limitations I find it really fun to play.
On the T|C, the game was rock-solid. On my T|5, I have to reset my device about every time I play the game or it will not load properly the next time. Also, 2005 is 320x320.
It makes for a pretty nice wow factor, also. ;)
It'd be nice to see Palm release a Zire with a better d-pad design so that the emulator-loving crowd would have something to replace their Zodiacs with when they start to fall apart down the road. Accelerated graphics would really help the spread of 320*480-enabled titles also.
I have to admit being surprised to see '06 being released given the overall downturn in the PalmCONomy. Madden '06 and Legacy 2 are definitely the big Palm entertainment titles of the year. And PLEASE bring on an official port/release of Doom for non-Tapwave devices!
You do know you can get Doom for your non-Tapwave Palm right? The yoyofr opensource port was firts - but has compatibility problems woth other palm devices. The Dev who goes by the name 'metaview' released a port that works better for other palm os devices which you can get from his site:
As for games i am looking for in 2006 - EDGE is *finally* near release (has completed beta testing).
RSC, what Palms have you personally tried Doom on so far?
and what is EDGE? An emulator?
Envision rugby, but with rules against mortally wounding the other players.
Yeah and envision great big padded cushions under the shirts of those 'pretty nancy boys' that play American Footy. Also, what's with the helmets? US men rarely wear helemts on motorbikes, so why bother in the feminine cruddy game of American footie?
You haven't lived until you've lost at least one ear in a scrum playing a proper game of English rugby!
I do have to admit that baseball is more entertaining than cricket though!
Scoring on All-Madden was too easy. In fact, I intentionally scored no touchdowns in one game. That game was a huge win. It was Steelers at Cowboys. Some teams were so easy to sack (i.e. Cowboys, Bills), and that led to many safeties. Field goals needed improvement for the 2005 version.
Now that 2006 comes, I hope I can see many corrections to the aforementioned pitfalls.
Normally, some of the stuff coming from PDAmill would also count, but unlike previous games like Pocket MiniGolf, Pocket MiniGolf Extra, and Arvale that were ported from PPC to pOS eventually, their newest slew of games like Arvale 2, Pocket MiniGolf 2, and its expansions are nowhere to be seen. Perhaps they don't really announce the commencing of these ports, they just get to work and announce 'em when they're close to being done?

yoyo's Doom and Doom2, as nice as they are, aren't official ports. Official ports wouldn't have this many compatibility issues, wouldn't require you to find your own WAD/sound/other game files, and wouldn't require so much tweaking to get the game to run.

It's against the rules to play without helmets. It's also illegal to ride motorcyles w/o helmets. As far as other concerns go, one couild then argue that seatbelts and airbags shouldn't be needed while driving, doors for elevators, railings for balconies, etc."Do you know the difference between an error and a mistake? Anyone can make an error, but that error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it."-Grand Admiral Thrawn
the secret to enjoying your job is to have a hobby that's even worse
My PDAs: Visor --> Visor Neo (blue) --> Zire 71 --> Tungsten T3 (with 4 of 6 screws still remaining) ~?~> zodiac 2?
As for football players being wusses? Enough of them get hurt as it is. I'll respect them for being tough with padding.
